I’m working on my deadline (9 days and counting!) and spending just about every spare moment on the book. I feel good about it and although it’s meandering down the path I never intended, I think the story is solid. You won’t see me much online this week, with the four day weekend (yay!), I will be writing my proverbial ass off. Chug, chug, chug. That’s the engine in my head churning out words. Looks kinda like this. Tee hee.

I’m guest blogging over with the very gifted, beautiful Beth Kery today, helping her to celebrate her Berkley Heat release, Explosive. Swing on by and say howdy – one lucky person gets an ARC of RESTLESS HEART! Whatcha waiting for, go check out my blog post! Wednesday, November 17th, 2010
Although I’m generally glad to see Wednesday arrive, because it means it’s the middle of the weak and thus, hump day. Today I’m not entirely glad. I’m feverishly working on a deadline, which is two weeks from today (December 1) and I still have a lot to write. DON’T PANIC! I’ve passed the halfway mark (should be blushing because it just happened), and every time I write a book, it feels like riding a bicycle on a hill. You have to pedal REALLY hard to get up the hill. It strains your muscles, tendons and you breathe like a locomotive. Then once you reach the crest, or the middle, the rest of it you coast down until you hit the bottom. I’m at the coasting stage. That’s when the book flows and almost writes itself (note I said almost). The last stage is the bottom of the hill. I can either crash into the jagged rocks and get all messed up (that’s happened believe me). Or I can coast to a stop using my brakes. I’m hoping for the latter. LOL. Anyway, I’ve been hitting my daily writing goal (for the most part) so I fully expect to hit my date in two weeks. However that means I’ll be sitting here pounding away at the keyboard every possible moment that I’m not working at my real job. If you don’t see me around, it’s cause I’m working hard. Promise! However, on Friday I’m guest blogging at the lovely Beth Kery’s blog to help her celebrate her release. Tuesday, November 16th, 2010
Round 2 of the Brava Writing with the Stars contest is in full swing. This round focuses on the best hero and heroine. My mentee Madeline Smyth has her hero, Sheikh Faruq, and her heroine, Aliya Arabesque, described with lush detail. You can picture them so well from her words. Have you voted yet? Whatcha waiting for? Get on over to the Romantic Times site and vote! This round closes November 28 – 12 more days!

Oh, I’m so pleased to see Friday slide on in. It’s been another week of long days at work. This Saturday is my RWA chapter meeting and Sue Grimshaw, the Romance Buyer from Borders, will be there. Woot! I’ve got pages to grind out this weekend too, but I really got flying tonight. Passed my daily goal (yay!) so I’m feeling the story is starting to take off. Always happens when I’m close to the halfway mark. Oops, I just confessed I’ve got less than 3 weeks and half the book to write. You didn’t hear that, did you? Hope y’all have a great weekend – anything good planned? Wednesday, November 10th, 2010
I’m pleased as punch to announce that my talented Brava Writing with the Stars mentee, Madeline Smyth, advanced into Round 2 of the competition with her tale, Aliya Arabesque. *confetti and horns abound* Now it’s time for you to vote again. Round 2 is “Best Hero and Heroine”. Hop on over to the Writing with the Stars site and read the entries, then vote. Easy peasy. *cue the cheerleaders* Go, Madeline, go! Tuesday, November 9th, 2010
So my mom and dad are artistic people – they might argue that point, but I know it’s true. Mom is a champion (and I do mean champion, best in show winner at the NC State Fair) knitter and crocheter. Dad is a wonder with wood – he’s made some amazing things like pens, bowls, cups, and so on. On Friday, they gave me an early birthday present that each of them had made. Check it out y’all… From my mom, a gorgeous scarf in a spectacular green. Love it and will totally use it (yay!). From my dad, the absolute best cowboy hat on the planet – can you see it? It’s made of WOOD! He turned it on his lathe and made it for me. My parents rock. | |||||||||||||||
