Missing RT

This is the first time I’ve missed the Romantic Times Convention since my first one in 2006. I feel a little bereft to think everyone is having fun without me. *sigh*

I know I shouldn’t feel bad because I’m heading off to a fabulous vacation with DH. AND in a month I’ll be in Ohio (the state where RT is being held) for Lori Foster’s Get Together. I believe there is a signing open to the public so I can hope that readers I miss at RT might come to that. Pretty please?

Anyhoo for those of you who are at RT, have fun. Don’t miss me too much. Tee hee. And for those you not attending RT, we’ve still got each other y’all.

20 Years

It’s honestly incomprehensible to me that 20 years ago today I married my husband. Where in the heck did 20 years go?

It’s definitely been a journey, with lots of ups and downs, laughter and tears, joy and heartache, and a couple of drive-me-crazy wonderful teenage sons.

And, of course, my exceedingly cute, talented, artistic husband.

I am feeling nostalgic today, of course, and I wanted to walk through some of the memories I have of my wedding day April 28, 1990.

- The photographer got lost on my way to my house so she was half an hour late.
- My SIL, who at the time as 15, stepped on and subsequently ripped her bridesmaid’s gown getting into the limo.
- I got married in CT so you’d expected mid-sixties for weather, right? Nope, it was 92 degrees and I had a long sleeved dress.
- The air conditioning didn’t work in the reception hall or the limo.
- My BIL pulled down one of the groomsman’s pants during the “legs contest”. He had on colorful underwear.
- I cried when I danced with my brother and he told me how proud he was of me.
- After having cake smeared on my face by my new husband, my uncle (a scary kinda dude) was sweet and helped me clean it off.
- We had prime rib but I could hardly eat.
- My mother helped a group of men decorate my husband’s car with t.p. and soap.
- That new ring on my finger felt warm and heavy.
- I’ve never had such a memorable day. It was the day the second half of my life began.

Happy Anniversary, babe. Love you.

‘Tis Tuesday

Only three more days until my vacation! I’ve still got stuff to do, but I’m tackling at least one or two things each day. I got my MIL’s room ready, so that’s done at least. Still got some cleaning, grocery shopping, and packing to do. I’m pleased to say I did my toes in a bright pink color and they’re ready for some sun!

I loaded up my iPhone this morning with some new songs. I was having trouble picking some to be honest. I added only 7 new songs – that’s not enough for an 8 day vacation. So I need some good song recs from y’all.

My taste is eclectic – ranging from hip-hop to R&B to alternative to pop to country. I’m all over the map (in more ways than one I’m sure, tee hee). So no song will be outside the realm of possibility.

What is one of your favorite songs from the last year or two?

Take your kid to work day

It started as “Take Your Daughter to Work” to promote girls staying in school and learning about jobs in the marketplace. My company immediately allowed both girls and boys to come to work.

Today is Take Your Kid to Work Day, along with Earth Day, Administrative Professional’s Day (was Secretary’s Day originally), but more importantly, it’s my younger DS’s birthday.

He’s a wonderful person – sweet, caring, smart, but hyperactive as hell. I love him so much it makes my eyes tear up to think about it.

So I’m off to work with my DS in tow to spend the day at my work and keep him with me all day on his birthday. After all, that’s what I did when he was born right?

Okay, it’s Wednesday

The days are going by fast, which is a good thing, but perhaps a bad thing. Only 9 days until my vacation, and only a million things to do. LOL.

I’m going to focus on something else to keep my mind off the pile of stuff to do…

Did you hear about the “lost” Apple iPhone? It’s apparently a prototype for the next generation that “someone” left in a bar in Silicon Valley. It ended up in the hands of Gizmodo website (reports say they paid 5K for it), who dissected it and posted pictures of it with info.

Somebody just got their ass fired at Apple.

The buzz is that Apple was supposed to release the next generation iPhone – 4G version I believe. This may have been it, or at least it was different from a regular iPhone. It even had a micro SD slot!

Now people were wondering if this was really a 4G iPhone or not, or if Gizmodo was talking trash. Well apparently the general counsel at Apple had sent a request to return their property.

So it appears it was a prototype for the new iPhone… and I’m due to get a new one this fall. Woo!

Almost forgot to post

I need a wife. Or an assistant. Somebody to handle all the stuff I try to cram into my days! I almost forgot to post today but remembered just a few minutes ago.

I am trying to decide how much to get done in the next week. I leave in 10 days on vacation (yay) and my MIL is staying with the kidlets while we’re gone. The house is honestly a freakin’ wreck and needs so much TLC.

I’ve got to clean inside and do all the outside spring clean-up too. So where do I focus? I’ll have help from DH and kidlets, but honestly, there’s so much to do and so many events this weekend, it ain’t all gonna get done.

Here’s my list and note I’ll have limited time to get it all done:

- Vacuum upstairs and downstairs
- Mop floors downstairs
- Clean bathrooms (2 1/2)
- Dust entire house
- Declutter, i.e., put crap away where it belongs
- Weed flower beds, put down mulch and put down weed preventer
- Make bed, hang curtains, tidy up room for MIL
- Laundry
- Grocery shopping
- Bank run

So what do you all think is the most important on that list?
