Getting ready for a new year

Again I’m surprised by the end of a year. Seems as if 2008 just began and now it’s nearly over.

It was an incredible year for me – with my Kensington contract, my agent and a host of other wonderful things, including Celebrate Romance, Lori Foster’s get together, and the RT convention.

Who could ask for anything more?

2009 promises to be another amazing year. Funny how it took me being in my 40s for my true calling to become a reality. I feel like pinching myself sometimes. :)

Tomorrow I’m going to have some resolutions for the new year. Do any of you make resolutions? I know people tend to break resolutions if they make them.

What do you think, to resolve or not to resolve?

Piles and piles of laundry

Hm, the big issue for me when coming back from a trip is laundry. *sigh* I cannot believe how much of it there was for a 5 day trip.

Not only had it been 8 days since I washed clothes, but since DH wasn’t working, he had more clothes in the laundry (normally he wears work shirts/pants done by a laundry service).

All day, it took me ALL DAY yesterday to get through it. Yuck. I was thinking I’d rather have been at work. LOL.

So I read two more books while I was on vacation. Woot! I read Reason to Sin and Sugar Queen.

I have to say I really liked Sugar Queen. Sarah Addison Allen, another NC girl, just has a way of making me fall in love with the characters.

It’s an easy read, and one that sucks you in like nobody’s business. She puts a bit of magic, a touch of paranormal (like books that keep appearing for one character), and voila! I loved it.

How about y’all? Read any good books lately? I’m trying to decide what to read next…

Excited on Christmas Eve

Christmas Eve makes me feel like a kid again. :D I don’t know what it is, but when I know the next day is Christmas, I get butterflies in my stomach.

*sheepish grin*

I also have trouble sleeping if you can believe it. Our rule, as it was when I was growing up, my kids could not get up before 7 am. Rule two, you could open stocking gifts before breakfast, but the rest had to wait until breakfast was done.

Rule three, you had to hand gifts to each other and watch them be opened.

My DH’s family does things a bit differently – there’s not as much in the line of rules. They just have a pile of gifts in their “spot” under the tree and you open them as you want to.

I liked having my Dad play Santa and give us a gift to open. There’s something about seeing the expression on someone’s face when they open a gift that’s precious to me.

I will be spending Christmas with my in-laws, but don’t worry, they’re wonderful people. I’m looking forward to it.

I won’t be online again until Monday. However, look for a special post tomorrow on Christmas Day about a FREE read from me. Yep, it’s a gift for all of you. Be sure to stop by!

Have a wonderful, amazing holiday y’all!

Poor Snowzilla

So apparently in Alaska for the last three years, a huge snowman has been erected, nicknamed “Snowzilla“.

This year the grinch arrived in the form of a cease-and-desist order and alas, Snowzilla will be no more.

Totally grinches!

Apparently the city thinks it causes a traffic hazard and unsafe conditions, now these poor kids and their dad can’t build their Snowzilla anymore. They actually had to take apart the bottom part of it already.

I say let the kids build the dang snowman! There’s people out there who spend thousands and thousands of dollars making their houses and yards into Christmas tree light spectacles. Yet this family can’t build a big snowman?

Here’s a picture from the original Snowzilla in 2005.

Goodreads, anyone?

So a lovely lady by the name of Jen told me I needed to get on Goodreads – to connect with readers and so forth. I’ve taken the first step and added my author profile and got myself “approved” as an author. Here is a link to my page on Goodreads.

I have sooooo many books to add to my bookshelf, so I’m going to start with a few and work on adding more. If I even consider e-books, on top of print books, I’ll be there forever.

Anyhoo, if you are on Goodreads, wanna be my friend?

It’s foggy for the 4th day in a row, but it’s FRIDAY!

As such I’m not going to work on a fancy blog post. I’m just going to give y’all a treat.
