Happy TT! Today’s Thursday Thirteen was sent to me in an e-mail and it totally cracked me up.
Thirteen Views on Angels by Children
1. “It’s not easy to become an angel! First, you die. Then you go to heaven, then there’s still the flight training to go through. And then you got to agree to wear those angel clothes.” –Matthew, 9
2. “I only know the names of two angels: Hark and Harold.” –Gregory, 5
3. “Everybody’s got it all wrong. Angels don’t wear halos anymore. I forget why, but scientists know all about it now.” –Olive, 9
4. “Angels work for God and watch over kids when God has to go do something else.” –Mitchell, 7
5. “My guardian angel helps me with math, but he’s not much good for science.” –Henry, 8
6. “Angels don’t eat, but they drink milk from holy cows.” –Scooter , 6
7. “Angels talk all the way while they’re flying you up to heaven. The basic message is where you went wrong before you got dead.” –Daniel, 7
8. “When an angel gets mad, he takes a deep breath and counts to ten, and when he lets out his breath, somewhere there’s a tornado.” –Regan, 5
9. “Angels have a lot to do and they keep very busy. If you lose a tooth, an angel comes in through your window and leaves money under your pillow. Then when it gets cold, angels go north for the winter.” –Sara, 6
10. “Angels live in cloud houses made by God and his son, who’s a very good carpenter.” –Jared , 8
11. “All angels are girls because they gotta wear dresses and boys didn’t go for it.” –Antonia, 9
12. “Some of the angels are in charge of helping heal sick animals and pets. And if they don’t make the animals get better, they help the kid get over it.” –Vicki, 8
13. “What I don’t get about angels is why, when someone is in love, they shoot arrows at them.” –Sarah, 7

I don’t know how many of you know this, but Stephen King is my all-time favorite writer. I’ve learned a lot about writing from him and his books. At least two entire shelves (and more actually) in my bookcase are full of SK’s books.
Anyhoo, he created this foundation called “The Haven Foundation” in 2006 – from the latest press release:
“The Haven Foundation was founded by King to provide financial assistance to writers and artists who, because of an injury or illness, are not able to provide for themselves or their loved ones. The charity offers a wide range of support for artists who make their living on a freelance basis and might not be able to work for a period of time.”
They now have enough money to offer grants to mid-list writers who need financial assistance. He came up with the idea after that awful accident back in 1999 when he was hit by a van and left by the side of the road. Obviously he has deep pockets, but he’s an exception to that rule for writers.
I think this is utterly fantastic and I encourage any writer to make a donation to The Haven Foundation. Here’s their website. Take a minute to read about it and spread the word. They have events, auctions and donation information – there’s even a store where proceeds benefit the foundation.
Welcome to a brand new series, Devils on Horseback. I am pleased as all hell to announce the release of book 1, Nate from Samhain Publishing.

It is three days from D-day – the day Devils on Horseback: Nate releases from Samhain! Wooohooooo!!!
I’m in the writing cave, but I wanted to wave at y’all. Howdy!
Woohoo!!! It’s finally Friday, free at last!
Doesn’t it seem like Friday plays hide and seek sometimes? Geez, I was gonna have to open a can of whoop ass if it didn’t get here. I swear having a child in marching band is going to drive me into the ground. I am so tired of driving him around – I am proud of him though – can’t wait to see him in the uniform. *proud mama*
This weekend will be a writing blitz. Game. Face. On. I’ve got some words to lay down (or type down in this case) to meet my deadline. Help me out y’all and think game face thoughts!!!
If you have a chance, pop on over to Mandy Roth and Michelle Pillow’s Yahoo group – the Raven Vampire Night club. They’ve having a Raven Reader Bash day with oodles of authors, excerpts and prizes.
It is FOUR days from D-day – the day Devils on Horseback: Nate releases from Samhain! I’m going to post a countdown clock for y’all Saturday and Sunday since I likely will try to stay offline since I get too distracted sometimes… okay, a lot. I’m going to give y’all an excerpt or two over the next four days so be on the look out!
Have a marvelous fabulous Friday and a delicious amazing weekend!!
