Wahoo! I’m so excited to report that my game face worked! I finished The Perfect Score: One Night Stand novella coming in at slightly under 22K. :clap_tb:
This was Babs and Jimmy’s story (you met him yesterday – yum). It’s my first I/R and I hope it’s good. *crossing fingers*.
Next up is The Perfect Score: Widow’s Weeds. This one is my first F/F. Haven’t tried it before, but I’m willing to give it a whirl. I have a friend who is a lesbian and I’m going to ask her to give it a read for realism. Don’t want to make too many stupid mistakes.
_tb:
After WW comes the last of the bowling stories, The Perfect Score: Marlene’s Man. This is aBBW with another honking big man (like Hank in The Harder They Fall). My goal is to have them both done by the time go on vacation April 1.
I’m definitely going to need my game face! :grin2_ee:

Jimmy Tanaka is the hero of my WIP, The Perfect Score: One Night Stand coming from Loose Id later this year.

(It’s actually a model named Satoshi Tumabuki, but he’s my muse for Jimmy)
One Night Stand is the first of three novellas centered around a bowling alley in Texas. Why did I pick a Japanese hero? I wanted to try an interracial romance (I/R), and I wanted it to stand out in the crowd, ya know? Then as I started writing it, I realized how sexy he was. My heroine, Babs Loomis, is a thirty-two year old divorcee with a string of men behind her as big as Texas. She picks ‘em hot, sexy, and stupid for her one night stands. Then she runs into Jimmy again.
Here’s a bit from the story (unedited of course) when Babs catches her first glimpse of Jimmy at the bowling tournament she is volunteering at.
EXCERPT:
“Morning!” Marlene called with a big grin.
“Good morning,” Babs replied as she set her cooler down beneath the table.
“Ready?”
Babs shrugged her shoulders. “I guess so. Not sure if I’ll be such a goodwill ambassador, but I can tell people what to do.”
Marlene laughed and gave her a quick hug and headed off. “You’ll be fine. Just be nice.”
“Hey! I’m always nice!” Babs winked at her and sat down. Jesse already explained what she needed to do. She’d help get the registration lists and score sheets together. Lord, she even helped with the scheduling. Marlene was bowling with a man in the couples tournament that she didn’t know. Babs bullied Veronica into bowling doubles just to get her to do something besides the ordinary.
The moment she sat down a large Starbucks coffee was set down in front of her. Babs smiled up at Jesse.
“Thank you, Jesse! How did you know?”
He almost looked like he blushed. “I asked Marlene. I cain’t pay you, Babs, but I wanted you to know how much I appreciate your help.”
Babs’ smiled grew wider. “You’re welcome, Jesse. I like to help out my friends.”
He patted her on the shoulder. “I’ll be over at the front desk, so if you need me, just holler.”
She nodded and he half-jogged back to the desk to take care of the three people already waiting. So many strangers, so many new faces. Babs was watching all of them, knowing she’d speak to each and every one of them sometime over the next four days.
That’s when she saw him.
He wasn’t overly tall, in fact, he couldn’t be taller than five foot eight. His hair was black as pitch and from behind, he was perfectly formed. Wide shoulders with firm muscles topped a tapering back and long arms. The biceps and triceps well defined and winked at her from beneath his short-sleeved red shirt. His black trousers hugged an incredible ass that made her mouth water. It was more than enough to fill her hands. She wanted to bite it and see if it was as firm as it looked.
His legs were obviously well muscled and his stance was one of an athlete, one well used to his body and fluid in his movements. As he spoke to a teammate, a man wearing an identical red shirt, he gestured and she got a better view of his magnificent arms. A hiss escaped her mouth as a shiver wormed its way up to her pussy.
Perfect. He was perfect.
Babs had no idea how long she stared, but it was long enough for the other man to notice. He smiled at her and tipped his head in her direction to the man that her body longed to explore. The perfect stranger turned and Babs literally gasped when she saw his face.
Jimmy Tanaka.
END EXCERPT
I worked for hours updating my website this morning. I’ve added my new Samhain covers, excerpts from everything, new and upcoming.
I have also added stuff here and there all around the site. Hope y’all enjoy it! :smile1_tb:
I also updated the Behind the Muses site with new covers and information. Come check out my sister muses!
On the writing side, I had to finish up the final edits for The Bounty (7 weeks until release!), so I didn’t get a chance to work on One Night Stand. That’s on my agenda today while I wait for the Fed Ex man, and then I’m off to get the damn tv fixed for the kids.
Shit, I’m too busy! :blink_tb:
I did hit my writing goal yesterday, and had to remove about 250 and rewrite the last scene I’d done. I just didn’t like it. I was off on my word count too – now I’m at over 19K. Yahoo! Heading toward the finish line – I’m whipping that horsie faster. :racinghorse_tb:
So, anyway, I thought I’d post a quiz today because I’m feeling the Friday lazies…
What Pattern is Your Brain?
|
Your Brain’s Pattern |
![]() Your brain is always looking for the connections in life. You always amaze your friends by figuring out things first. You’re also good at connecting people – and often play match maker. You see the world in fluid, flexible terms. Nothing is black or white. |
This is pretty much spot on. I am completely like this, especially seeing the world in fluid, flexible terms. I also like to amaze people. :wink_ee:
By a huge margin. I was supposed to write 1500 words and I think I wrote 200. Hell, that was really off. I’m still hovering at about 16.5 K so I’ve got at least 4K to go, then edits, polishing, etc. I’ve only got five days! :shock_tb:
I’ve also got to update my website, the muse website (for which I am web mistress), and somehow squeeze in real life. :help_tb:
Good thing it’s Thursday and I’ve got the weekend to work. DH will be gone for most of it so I can buckle down and pully out the game face. :grin2_ee:
Oh, and good news! Vixen Virgins is definitely going to print! Yahoo! Anyone that comes to RT can buy a copy at the Book Fair and get it autographed by moi!
The long awaited new cover for The Bounty.

I absolutely love it! Scott has captured not only a sexy man (meow!), but he’s captured Nicky completely. I couldn’t have asked for a sexier cover! :cool1_tb:
I’ll be updating my website tonight and you’ll get to see The Prize cover too.
Wahooo!!!! :clap_tb:
Life is rushing by so fast. In between my real job, my family, and my writing, I don’t even have time to scratch my ass. I did hit my 1500 word goal yesterday – woohoo! I’m at 16580 words… I feel like the little engine that could… I think I can…. I think I can…
I got a sneak peek at two of my Samhain covers and holy shit! They are soooo sexy. Scott Carpenter is a genius! I can’t wait to share them… :jittery_tb:
Anyhoo, I’ve got a million things to get done today, but wanted to at least say howdy to anyone that stopped by. Here’s a funny joke for y’all, compliments of my peep Janice. :laugh_tb:
A lady walks into a drug store and tells the pharmacist she
needs some Cyanide. The pharmacist said, “Why in the world do you need
cyanide?”
The lady then explained she needed it to poison her husband.
The pharmacist’s eyes got big and he said, “Lord have mercy, I can’t
give you cyanide to kill your husband! That’s against the law! I’ll lose
my license, they’ll throw both of us in jail and all kinds of bad
things will happen! Absolutely not, you can NOT have any cyanide!”
Then the lady reached into her purse and pulled out a picture of
her husband in bed with the pharmacist’s wife.
The pharmacist looked at the picture and replied, “Well now, you
didn’t tell me you had a prescription.”
You’re probably sick of it by now, but I’ve got eight days to finish my first bowling story One Night Stand in The Perfect Score series for Loose Id. Eight! 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8. Um, yeah. Time for game face. :grin2_ee:
So, where am I? Let me see… I just crossed the 15K line. If we’re talking a goal of 20-25K, then I’m in the 60-75% range. Not enough.
My wonderful cp, Sasha, is reading as quickly as I’m writing, so hopefully it will be in beautiful shape when I’m finished.
Must. Put. Game. Face. On. :grin2_ee:
My goal is 1500 words a day until I hit the end, that gives me a few days to do a final edit. Wish me luck!
I had a huge attack on my nose and head yesterday by some nasty virus. :devil_tb: My nose looks like Rudolph, is chapped and sore. I’ve used nearly all my tissues, and I’m cranky and tired. :glurps_tb:
I hope I feel better tomorrow. I think I need him to come give me a body massage.

Sasha tagged me yesterday… So now I need to publish my five guilty pleasures.
It’s harder than you think to think of five guilty pleasures. It’s even harder to admit them. Okay, here goes.
1. Purses/pocketbooks. I have a thing about buying a new purse. It’s a sensual, uplifting experience for me. Weird but true. :laugh_tb:
2. Reese’s peanut butter cups. OMG, I love these. Really, really love them. :happy_tb:
3. Time alone. I admit it – I gleefully send DH and my sons out whenever possible so I can be alone in the house. :devil_tb:
4. Erotica. I love to read erotica and get all het up. Hopefully DH is around after I finish reading it, if not, well, I am. :wink1_tb:
5. Hardcover books. I shouldn’t buy them, but I do. I try to only buy them at BJ’s or Sam’s so they’re cheaper, but Lord, cracking open that hardcover book the first time. Oh, baby, I luv it. :cool1_tb:
Okay, I’m going to tag Annalee and Karen.
